Fauna Balsa Wood Wall Hangings

August 21st, 2008  |  Published in Daily Deals

Coolhunting interviews Fauna designer Ross Menuez

From Apartment Therapy:

We were in Acorn in Brooklyn, where we saw this image hanging on the wall - apparently being sold as artwork. On inquiring we discovered that it was a screen print on balsa wood and was the handiwork of Ross Menuez, the designer behind Salvor, a SoHo based company that makes bags, t-shirts, pillows and all sorts of trendy stuff . . . . While we respect the pillows and stuff, it’s the artwork that draws us in.

The fine folks at AT got it right — the artwork does draw you in. And it’s different — as we’d erroneously say in high school, it’s ‘very unique’ even. The artwork is printed on individual balsa squares attached to a flexible backing. Each hanging is signed and limited to 300 printings. Due to the nature of screen-printing, each piece will be original and have slight differences.

Down, etc. pillows

Down, etc. pillows

Who doesn’t need more pillows? I have four on my bed every night and always end up with one by 6AM. Which one? It’s a Down, etc. Delux goose down pillow. Why is my subconscious so discriminating? Because it knows that deep sleep promotes restoration. And we all know that good sleep quality is imperative for anti-aging purposes, optimal brain function and overall wellness. So when my mind means business, it goes for the most comfortable material out there. Fact: down adjusts to your body temperature and and shape! It’s natural. I can give the full weight of my massive cranium and neck to the pillow — I relax from head to toe.

So I ask again: who doesn’t deserve a great night’s sleep?

Today we’re offering a collection of premium white goose down 235 thread count pillows, plus we know you use more than one pillow, so if you buy more than one, take another 10% off, more than 3 take 15% off! These pillows have the works:

  • White, 100% downproof cotton fabric
  • preshrunk
  • Double Stitching with German Cotton Piping
  • 650+ fill power
  • CentroClean ™ Feathers and Down
  • Hypoallergenic

Whew! Sleep tight — one day only, 50% off!

Coolhunting interviews Fauna designer Ross Menuez

Want to hip up your space? Cool up your kindergartner? The best way to show that you’re on the cutting edge of design is with animal-printed pillows and T-shirts from Fauna. And by “animal-printed,” we don’t mean zebra-striped and leopard-spotted; we mean actually displaying zebras and leopards, among many other animals, in sepia-flavored prints. Everything’s printed by hand, the T-shirts are soft, and the pillows are interestingly shaped. And everything is hand-printed water based ink on 100 percent organic cotton broadcloth!

Dog Days of August II

Hepper pet beds

Hepper pet beds

Maybe it was the witty title; perchance the amazing fashionable pet gear available at prices that are for the birds. Whatever the reason, we’ve got more pet gear, so we’re running it today. We thought we’d make the Dog Days of August a little more fashionable. Today’s selection features Hepper™. Hepper is a pet products company that was born from that universal thought: “there’s got to be a better way”. In their case, they had a house full of cats with the accompanying house full of really ugly cat toys and furniture. A search for truly innovative, functional, cool beds was fruitless and thus spawned the creation of the Pod and Podium – the first of many new home furnishings from Hepper.
